Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1880 Swedish country sideboard demonstrates Scandinavian Country style, constructed from pine with a zinc top and a pale green painted finish. The piece measures 76 cm high, 88 cm wide, and 70 cm deep, offering a compact storage solution for a home. Notable details include a recessed zinc tray top, a single panelled door with hinges on the right, an iron latch handle, and a distressed painted surface showing natural wear and chippy paintwork. In a modern home interior, this practical cupboard functions as an occasional side table or storage unit in a kitchen, utility room, or hallway. The rustic farmhouse aesthetic brings character and heritage appeal to an interior space while providing a flat working surface on top and enclosed storage within the cabinet body.

FAQs

Historically used in Scandinavian country kitchens and sculleries, zinc-topped sideboards served as practical food preparation surfaces, with the metallic top providing a water-resistant and easy-to-clean area.

These pieces are predominantly crafted from native pine or fir, coated in distemper or oil-based paint, and frequently fitted with sheet zinc tops and iron hardware.

Authentic Swedish country furniture features simplified proportions, peg-and-tenon joinery, natural wear patterns on original painted finishes, and functional hand-forged iron latches.

Pair the muted painted timber with neutral plaster walls, contemporary ceramics, and natural linen textiles to create a balanced contrast between historic patina and modern simplicity.

Clean the zinc surface using a soft damp cloth while avoiding acidic agents, and apply clear furniture wax to the painted wood to preserve the original finish without altering the patina.
