Isfahan rugs originate from the city of Isfahan in central Iran, a historical hub for master weavers patronised by Persian royalty since the Safavid dynasty.

Authentic pieces typically feature high-grade kork wool or silk piles hand-knotted on cotton or silk foundations, often utilising intricate asymmetric Persian knots.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating the knot density, natural dye variations, fineness of the curvilinear floral design, and the structural characteristics of the foundation.

These carpets anchor contemporary spaces by providing rich colour, historical texture, and sophisticated pattern contrast against minimalist furniture and neutral flooring.

Preservation requires regular low-suction vacuuming without a beater bar, professional organic washing when needed, and keeping the textile away from direct sunlight.
