Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian mahogany camel back sofa in the George II style stands on gently chamfered mahogany legs joined by stretcher rails. The seat has a feather and down cushion between rolled arms, and the frame is upholstered in yellow Sanderson linen with dark stud trim. The piece measures 84 cm high, 156 cm wide, and 80 cm deep. Place this sofa in a drawing room, bedroom, or a quiet reading nook for comfortable seating in a traditional interior. The camel-shaped back curve pairs with antique stud decoration and dark mahogany woodwork to create an English country house aesthetic suitable for formal or relaxed living spaces.

FAQs

Designed during the Edwardian era in the early 20th century, these sofas draw inspiration from 18th-century 18th-century forms, featuring a central hump or arch along the backrest paired with integrated scroll arms.

Frames were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or beech, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery, paired with hand-tied coil springs, horsehair padding, and brass stud trim.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit solid timber framing, hand-tacked upholstery foundations, appropriate age-related wear on exposed wooden feet, and historic joinery techniques.

A compact camel back settee works effectively as an accent piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living room, offering a structured silhouette that contrasts well against neutral backdrops or wallpapered interiors.

Vacuum fabric gently using a soft brush attachment, keep the item away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and nourish exposed wooden legs with high-quality beeswax applied along the grain.
