Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique Harun Kashan carpet, dating from circa 1920, showcases traditional craftsmanship originating from Persia. Woven in natural shades, the textile displays a classic ivory medallion set upon a soft madder ground, complemented by navy borders and detailed floral patterns throughout. The piece exhibits a soft, even pile, along with secured ends and sides. Measuring 338 cm high by 256 cm wide with a 1 cm depth, the carpet suits placement on living room or dining room floors to anchor furniture arrangements. The durable woven construction provides warmth and texture underfoot while introducing traditional pattern and heritage character to interior spaces.

FAQs

Originating from the city of Kashan in central Iran, these carpets became prominent during the Safavid dynasty. They are characterized by symmetrical diamond-shaped central medallions, elaborate floral palmettes, and refined corner spandrels, traditionally woven in rich indigo blues and madder reds.

Traditional Kashan carpets feature a high-density pile woven from fine sheep wool, often sourced from the Sabzevar region. The foundational warp and weft threads are typically constructed from spun cotton, providing structural stability to the dense hand-knotted pile.

Authentic pieces exhibit an asymmetrical (Persian) knot with high knot density, visible as neat, tight rows on the underside. They feature detailed curvilinear floral motifs, a central medallion motif, and consistent selvage finishing along the edges.

A classic Persian carpet serves as a grounding foundational layer in modern living or dining rooms. Positioning the carpet beneath clean-lined contemporary furniture or dark timber antiques creates visual balance between historical craft and modern architecture.

Vacuum regularly using suction only to avoid catching the fibers with a rotary beater bar. Rotate the carpet annually to ensure even wear and light exposure, and rely on specialist rug restorers for periodic deep cleaning.
