An antique chest of drawers from the Edwardian period, rendered in a Georgian revival style. The piece takes form in mahogany with warm caramel hues and contrasting satinwood line inlay, displaying a fine grain finish alongside a desirable aged patina. Four graduated drawers run down the front, dressed with circular brass ring pull handles adorned with foliate motifs, and the whole rests upon bracket feet beneath a beaded lower apron. Measuring 74 cm high, 59 cm wide and 51 cm deep, the unit provides a compact footprint. Placement suits a bedroom as a bedside chest or a home office for storage needs. Solid construction ensures practical utility in a domestic setting.

Georgian Revival furniture produced during the Edwardian era draws design inspiration from eighteenth-century English cabinetmaking. Key elements include classical proportions, geometric string inlay, mahogany veneers, and traditional bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, often detailed with contrasting wood stringing such as satinwood or boxwood. Cast brass hardware, including circular ring pulls or swan-neck handles, was standard for drawer fittings.

Authentic pieces feature machine-assisted yet precise dovetail drawer joints, natural aging to the timber patination, authentic brass hardware with light oxidisation, and smooth drawer runners showing legitimate historic wear.

Warm mahogany furniture acts as a grounding anchor against neutral paint palettes, muted plaster walls, or modern botanical wallpapers. Pairing rich timber tones with contemporary artwork or minimalist lighting creates an engaging textural contrast.

Maintain timber using high-grade beeswax polish applied sparingly along the wood grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking, movement, or colour fading.
