Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian oak and pine sideboard cupboard displays a warm golden brown timber finish with an aged patina. The piece has a moulded top above two fitted drawers with brass swan neck handles, flanked by bobbin detailing. Below are two blind panelled cupboard doors with small round brass knobs, framed by turned columns and carved pilasters. The structure sits on a substantial moulded plinth base, showing surface wear, age-related marks, scratches, mild staining, and historic treated woodworm. The sideboard measures 90 cm high, 122.5 cm wide, and 47 cm deep. In a modern interior, this storage unit suits a dining room, hallway, or living room to hold dinnerware, table linen, or everyday items while adding traditional English country house character to the space. The surface provides a practical spot for lamps, decorative objects, or serving items during gatherings.

FAQs

An antique oak sideboard is a dining or living room case piece originating from the 18th to early 20th centuries, designed with drawers and cupboards for storing tableware, cutlery, and household linens.

Traditional sideboards were crafted from solid oak or pine secondary timbers, utilising hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, mortise and tenon framework, and cast brass door hardware.

Authentic period sideboards exhibit signs of historical age such as natural timber patination, hand-planed back panels, original drawer construction techniques, and period-appropriate brass fittings.

Position an antique oak sideboard as a statement piece in an entryway or dining room, balancing its visual weight with contemporary wall lamps, minimalist ceramics, or an oversized wall mirror.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the wood grain, keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
