A Superb Georgian Antique Pine Shallow 3 Drawer Pot Board Server / Sideboard

18th century
Description

This server is in good condition. We have professionally restored it and then waxed it in a lovely antique brown bri wax giving it a stunning appearance.

The server would look well in an old or modern property. It would look great in a large living room with a flat screen TV on etc.

The server stands on round turned legs supporting the main section where there are four front legs and four back legs. The legs are beautifully turned with a pot board to the bottom. There are three large drawers with round turned wooden knobs, dovetail joints and are pine lined. The top is in good condition with a slight bull nosed edge.

The height is 89cm, the width is 168cm and the depth is 46cm.

Delivery Terms

WE OFFER FREE DELIVERY TO ENGLAND, WALES, AND SCOTLAND (BELOW PERTH)

Shipping /delivery is equally as important to us as the item of furniture itself. It is simple; we deliver everything personally in England / Wales so this way we are 100% sure that the item / furniture reaches our customers safe and sound. We NEVER use couriers. Delivery is generally within 7-14 days of purchase. We guarantee delivery anywhere in England / Wales within 21 days of purchase.

Deliveries to Scotland as far north as Perth are guaranteed within 6 weeks of purchase. If delivery is required above Perth in Scotland please contact James on 07957 392 074 or

james@davidhuntantiques.com for a price.

Deliveries are either carried out by David or James as one member of the team is required to stay in the warehouse, therefore we do require assistance from the van into your hallway with the item of furniture. We have set delivery days and once the van is loaded (a day prior to delivery) David will call customers to arrange a two hour delivery time slot. Customers will also receive a text when delivery is 30 minutes away.

It is really helpful if customers can provide their ‘what3words’ location to make delivery as smooth

as possible, especially properties in rural locations.

Ireland Deliveries

We do use a very good courier company called DVM Service to deliver goods to Ireland. We ask the customer to pay this company direct for the delivery charge and we then liaise with DVM regarding collection of a customer’s item of furniture to be shipped to Ireland.

Europe & Rest of the World

We do not ship to Europe or the Rest of the World.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian country style sideboard is constructed from pine with a warm brown wax finish and exhibits a rustic farmhouse design. The piece takes the form of a shallow server with an open lower pot board shelf positioned above round turned legs. The upper section contains three drawers fitted with round turned wooden knobs. Above the drawers, the top surface has a slight bull nosed edge, while shaped aprons run along the front beneath the drawers. The server measures 89 cm high, 168 cm wide and 46 cm deep. This furniture item suits placement in a large living room, where it can function as a console table for items such as a flat screen television, and it integrates well into either a traditional or a contemporary interior property setting.

FAQs

A pot board server is a traditional piece of 18th-century country utility furniture featuring upper drawers for cutlery and a solid lower shelf, originally built to keep heavy iron pots and copperware off wet stone floors.

Country servers from this era were primarily constructed using native softwoods and hardwoods such as pine, oak, elm, and fruitwood, often joined using traditional hand-cut dovetails and mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-drawn drawer linings, uneven hand-sawn timber marks, hand-carved turned wooden handles or brass teardrop pulls, and natural age-related shrinkage in the timber panels.

These shallow tables function as console units in narrow hallways, servers behind living room sofas, or display surfaces in open-plan dining rooms alongside modern ceramics and natural linen textiles.

Preserve the natural wood finish by applying a coat of clear beeswax once or twice a year, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber split or warping.
