Antique Jacobean Style Oak Sideboard | Raised Gallery

Description

Antique 1920s sideboard in solid oak, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality in the Jacobean revival taste, showcasing fine craftsmanship and beautifully figured timber.

The front has a central bank of three drawers flanked by a pair of cupboard doors, each opening to a shelved interior, all fitted with chunky carved oak bar handles, and the doors with locks.

The case has rounded corners and a stepped moulded top, with carved floral scroll pilasters to the doors and carved scrolls framing the drawers. To the back is a raised gallery shelf over a fielded panel, supported on beaded cup and cover turned columns with pyramid blocks, and the sideboard stands on matching cup and cover legs joined by a box stretcher.

The oak displays a stunning quarter-sawn figured grain and a warm, rich golden colour with a lovely mellow patina.

Presented in good condition commensurate with age. A very desirable and practical oak sideboard of compact proportions, a perfect addition to any dining room, kitchen or hallway.
