1950s Zenith Sporto Wristwatch

1940 - 1960
Description

A 1950's Zenith Sporto manual wind wristwatch. The watch has an absolutely brilliant slate grey dial, with lume Arabic numerals. The dial finish reflects at different angles, showing it as light grey towards darker grey, depending on the angle. The dial is surrounded by a light cream minute track, matching the detailing to the numerals. A subsidiary seconds dial to 6 o'clock with enlarged 5 second markers. Signed Swiss Made to the bottom section.

A base metal case, with some light pitting to the main body. Well shaped lugs, sloping towards the ends which add to the overall sleek feel whilst wearing. A period correct winding crown. A stainless steel case back, signed to the inner 'Zenith Sporto' with a case reference to the outer.

A manual wind, 15 jewel Zenith caliber 12-4-P-6 mechanism. The mechanism is covered by an internal perspex dust cover - moulded to be attached by the case screws. Circa early 1950's.
