Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Additional tones of gold, red, and blue punctuate the pattern alongside original, secure fringes and selvedges. The physical dimensions measure 354 cm high by 269 cm wide by 1 cm deep, offering substantial floor coverage for a generous living room, dining room, or bedroom setting.

FAQs

Produced primarily in the 1920s and 1930s, Chinese Art Deco carpets blend traditional Chinese pictorial motifs with the bold, saturated colours and asymmetrical compositions popularised by Western designers during the Art Deco era.

These carpets were typically hand-knotted using plush wool pile spun from heavy yarn, constructed over a durable cotton warp and weft foundation.

Authentic examples feature thick wool pile, open central fields with asymmetrical floral or branch motifs, distinct saturated colour palettes such as magenta or jade green, and hand-bound edges.

A bold Chinese Art Deco carpet functions as a grounding focal point, pairing well with neutral upholstered furniture, clean-lined timber pieces, or polished brass accents that complement its vibrant field.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating beater bar, rotate annually to equalise wear, address spills immediately by blotting with cold water, and use a professional rug pad underneath.
