This Victorian single bedstead dates from 1880 in the English Country House style. Constructed from cast iron and brass, it has a cream painted finish with polished gold details, incorporating cast iron vertical spindles, a tubular brass top rail, and acorn-shaped brass finials on the corner posts. The metal frame demonstrates sturdy construction with traditional joinery visible at the side rails and footboard. Measuring 144 cm high, 91.5 cm wide, and 213.5 cm deep, this piece accommodates a standard single mattress size for daily sleeping use. It integrates suitably into a guest bedroom or child's bedroom scheme within a traditional home interior.

A Victorian iron bedstead is a 19th-century bed frame constructed primarily from cast or wrought iron, frequently adorned with decorative brass details such as top rails and finials.

These beds were manufactured using iron tubes and bars secured into cast-iron joints, known as chills, with solid brass tubing and polished brass urn or ball finials added for ornamentation.

Authentic period pieces feature heavy cast-iron dovetail joints at the side rails, cast decorative floral or geometric chills, and solid brass components rather than modern electroplated steel.

A single metal bedstead functions well in guest bedrooms or childrens rooms, styled with layered linen bedding, modern textured throw blankets, and traditional bedside lighting to contrast the metalwork.

Dust the frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth, clean painted iron surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and polish uncoated brass elements using a specialised metal polish to prevent oxidisation.
