Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture, emerging prominently in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by sleek geometric forms, streamlined silhouettes, and the use of luxurious materials such as exotic veneers, chrome, and mirrored glass.

These pieces typically utilise a solid wood carcase overlaid with highly figured burr walnut veneer, chosen for its swirling grain patterns. Traditional construction often involves hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-accurate hardware, traditional joinery techniques such as dovetailing, and natural ageing characteristics within the veneer and polish, unlike modern machine-made reproductions.

An Art Deco chest functions effectively as a focal point in a bedroom or living space, pairing well with neutral walls, minimalist lighting, and metallic accents that complement the rich grain of the wood.

Preservation requires keeping the wood out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintaining stable indoor humidity levels to avoid veneer cracking, and cleaning only with a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
