The drawer fronts are richly carved with scrolling foliage and distinctive Green Man masks, giving the desk a bold Gothic Revival character. The pedestals have panelled sides and the desk stands on plinth bases. The oak displays attractive grain and a warm patinated colour typical of Victorian furniture.

Interestingly, the reverse of the desk is fitted with two hinged extending arms, most likely intended to support an additional leaf to extend the writing surface if required.
