This Victorian wine cabinet is made from dark brown mahogany with a rectangular form, measuring 84 cm high, 94 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. The piece stands on a solid plinth base beneath a flat moulded top, presenting a simple and architectural silhouette. Two panelled cupboard doors feature brass keyhole escutcheons and open to reveal an interior fitted with a bottle rack on the left and open storage compartments on the right. Suitable for a gentleman's library or dining room, the cabinet functions as a practical storage unit for wine bottles, glassware, and bar accessories. The rich grain of the timber and the understated design details make it adaptable to traditional and contemporary interior settings alike, providing a grounded presence in a home.

Originating in the 19th century, a Victorian wine cabinet or cellarette cabinet was constructed to store wine bottles, decanters, and associated glassware within a dining room or parlour.

Cabinets from around 1840 were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, featuring hand-dovetailed joinery, secondary pine or oak linings, and cast brass escutcheons.

Authentic early Victorian pieces demonstrate hand-planed secondary timber, original brass lock mechanisms, natural surface patina, and traditional joinery techniques across internal frames.

A low-profile Victorian cabinet functions effectively as a drinks station or hallway storage unit, contrasting clean modern lines with historic timber grain and deep tones.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying beeswax once or twice a year while avoiding direct heat sources and damp conditions.
