Viennese cold-painted bronze refers to bronze sculptures produced in Vienna, Austria, primarily during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, where the metal was painted with multiple layers of cold enamel rather than fired in a kiln.

These pieces were typically cast using the lost-wax method from a bronze or brass alloy, then meticulously detailed by hand and painted with dust-pigmented paints bound in oil or varnish.

Authentic pieces often feature characteristic wear to the cold enamel revealing the warm metal underneath, precise chiselling details, and occasionally foundry marks or the Geschutzt stamp indicating a registered design.

These small-scale sculptures can be styled on bookshelves, mantelpieces, or executive desks, adding a layer of historical texture and curiosity to contemporary or transitional spaces.

To preserve the delicate cold-painted enamel, pieces should be kept out of direct sunlight, dusted gently with a soft dry brush, and never exposed to moisture, chemical cleaners, or polishing agents.
