FAQs

Post-Impressionism emerged as a reaction against Impressionism, focusing on emotional resonance, symbolic content, and structural brushwork rather than purely optical realism.

Artists of this era typically used oil paints applied thickly with a palette knife or brush onto primed canvas or board, often housed in carved wooden frames.

Authentication involves examining canvas ageing, pigment composition, framing techniques, artist signatures, and underlying stretcher bars consistent with the mid-20th century.

Such works provide a rich focal point on neutral walls, benefiting from directional picture lighting to accentuate the raised impasto texture.

Preservation requires stable indoor humidity, avoidance of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and occasional professional cleaning to remove accumulated dust and varnish yellowing.
