Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often lighter and less ornate than Victorian pieces, drawing inspiration from Sheraton, Hepplewhite, and eighteenth-century designs.

Cabinetmakers frequently utilised mahogany, walnut, and satinwood, often incorporating contrasting stringing, marquetry, and brass hardware to enhance the visual appeal.

Authenticity is determined by examining dovetail joinery on drawers, secondary woods used in the interior, original brass handles, and the characteristic patina and oxidisation of the timber and mirror glass.

Pairing the classic timber piece with modern minimalist seating, simple lighting, and restrained accessories creates a balanced contrast that highlights the historic craftsmanship within a modern space.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying natural beeswax periodically, and avoiding silicone-based polishes that can degrade the historic finish.
