We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Welsh dressers originated in rural Wales as utilitarian furniture designed for storing and displaying everyday kitchenware, typically featuring open plate racks above a base of drawers and cupboards.

Authentic period dressers were predominantly constructed using solid regional timbers such as oak, elm, and occasionally pine, joined using traditional cabinet-making methods like pegged mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage, natural patination from centuries of use, and signs of hand-tooling rather than modern mechanical fabrication.

An antique dresser serves as a focal point in modern spaces when balanced with minimalist tableware, simple ceramics, or curated collections, contrasting heritage craftsmanship against clean walls.

Preserve antique oak by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber without stripping the historic patina.
