A Georgian chest of drawers is a traditional storage unit produced during the reigns of Kings George I to IV, characterised by classical proportions, high-quality timber construction, and elegant brass hardware.

Master craftsmen typically utilised dense hardwoods such as solid mahogany and oak for structural integrity, often incorporating pine or deal for secondary internal elements like drawer linings and carcase backs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, original timber patination, hand-forged or cast brass handles, and secondary woods consistent with eighteenth-century production methods.

This foundational piece works well as a focal point in a bedroom or living area, pairing effectively with contemporary minimalist decor to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern clean lines.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the polished surface.
