This Art Nouveau period double fruit stand takes the form of a silver-coloured pewter centrepiece, produced in Germany around 1900. The design incorporates a central sculpted standing maiden with flowing hair and raised arms, positioned between two shallow leaf-shaped trays joined by characteristic whiplash curves at the base. Visible details include stamped marks on the metal surface and a small blemish to one tray within an otherwise excellent finish. Measuring 22 cm high by 35 cm wide, the piece has a compact footprint suited to a sideboard top or dining table. Practical for everyday use or display, the double dish accommodates fruit, small ornaments or decorative items in a living room, dining room or hallway. The undulating rim of the leaf bowls provides defined compartments for arrangement, while the upright female figure serves as an integrated handle or central focal point. The metallic sheen complements traditional and contemporary room schemes alike, adding sculptural interest to surface settings throughout the home.

Art Nouveau metalwork from the late 19th and early 20th centuries is defined by asymmetrical organic lines, whiplash curves, and natural motifs such as stylized flora and stylized female figures.

Pieces from this period were commonly cast in Britannia metal or pewter alloys, often coated in silver plating or finished with an oxidised patina to enhance surface detail.

Authentic items typically feature stamped maker marks on the base or rim, such as the WMF ostrich mark, alongside stamped model numbers and distinctively crisp casting detail along relief edges.

Positioning a metallic figural stand on a polished sideboard or dining table creates a focal point that contrasts structured modern lines with organic, sculptural curves.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can wear away original silver plating or protective patinas.
