Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival furniture draws inspiration from 18th-century designer Thomas Chippendale, typically featuring rich mahogany timber, elaborate carved details, ogee bracket feet, and serpentine or bombe outlines popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.

Authentic pieces are constructed from dense tropical hardwoods like solid and veneered mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes, solid brass swing handles with backplates, and secondary woods such as oak or pine for internal framing.

Identification relies on examining timber ageing, hand-cut dovetailing, patination on brass hardware, tool marks consistent with period woodworking machinery or hand tools, and the composition of secondary woods inside the carcass.

Pairing dark wood period furniture with neutral walls, minimalist contemporary lighting, and abstract art creates a balanced transitional scheme that highlights the rich grain and sculptural serpentine silhouette without overwhelming the space.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, dusting regularly with a dry lint-free cloth, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished finish.
