Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest-on-chest, also known as a tallboy, is an eighteenth-century furniture design consisting of two chests of drawers stacked vertically, with the upper section constructed slightly narrower than the lower base to maintain structural balance.

Traditional tallboys were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, cast brass handles, and decorative flame veneers laid across drawer fronts.

Authentic eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary drawer linings, hand-planed backboards, and natural age-related wear around keyholes and drawer runners.

A tallboy serves as a functional focal point in modern bedrooms, dressing rooms, or hallways when balanced with light wall colours, contemporary artwork, and simple ceramic accessories.

Maintain flame mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish sparingly along the grain twice a year. Keep the cabinet clear of direct heat sources and high humidity to protect the veneer.
