Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often lighter in proportion than Victorian pieces, frequently drew inspiration from earlier Georgian and Sheraton revivals.

Makers of this era commonly utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany and satinwood for frames, often incorporating traditional joinery, horsehair stuffing, and brass castors.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining internal frame construction, hand-cut screws, timber ageing patterns, and traditional upholstery webbing methods characteristic of the early 20th century.

Pairing a historical seating piece with minimalist modern surroundings creates a balanced interior, allowing the craftsmanship of the wooden frame and texture of the fabric to serve as a focal point.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and fabric fading, alongside regular gentle dusting of the wooden legs and professional cleaning for the upholstery.
