Regency furniture refers to the British design style produced during the early 19th century, drawing heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian forms, often characterised by clean lines, dark woods, and restrained ornamentation.

These pieces were traditionally crafted from dense hardwoods like solid mahogany and oak, utilising hand-cut dovetail joints for drawer construction, cedar or pine for secondary framing, and fitted with cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, asymmetrical wood grain patterns indicative of hand-planed surfaces, period-appropriate brass handles with original fixing posts, and signs of natural age-related patina and oxidisation.

Pair the warm tones of the timber with neutral walls, minimalist lighting, and modern abstract art to create a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetic minimalism.

Keep the item out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent wood splitting, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the timber surface.
