This Regency chest of drawers is constructed from solid mahogany with a warm brown polished finish. The piece comprises a rectangular top with a reeded edge moulding above two short cockbeaded dovetailed drawers and three long graduated drawers, fitted with period brass oval drop handles and key escutcheons. The structure stands on shaped bracket feet and features a shaped apron along the bottom edge, complemented by solid timber sides and back. General usage wear includes a couple of old veneer repairs. Measuring 100 cm high, 107 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, the chest offers practical storage capacity. In a contemporary home, this chest of drawers provides versatile storage for a bedroom, landing, or living space to hold folded clothing, linens, or household items. The traditional timber finish and classic proportions suit both period interiors and modern settings looking for timeless storage furniture.

Regency chests of drawers, produced between approximately 1810 and 1830, typically feature clean geometric lines, dark woods such as mahogany or rosewood, and subtle classical proportions.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid or veneered mahogany, solid oak or pine for interior drawer linings, and cast or stamped brass hardware for handles and escutcheons.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, original brass backplate handles, cockbeading around drawer fronts, and period-appropriate wood wear or natural oxidisation.

Position the chest as a focal point in a hallway or bedroom, balancing its dark wood visual weight with light wall tones and contemporary abstract artwork above it.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight and harsh commercial sprays.
