FAQs

Early 20th-century oil paintings often bridge traditional academic realism with emerging modernist techniques, frequently exploring historical narratives, portraiture, and atmospheric lighting using rich pigment layering.

These works typically utilise artist-grade oil paints applied to primed millboard or canvas-textured boards, often finished with a protective natural resin varnish.

Authentication involves examining the canvas or board composition, pigment oxidisation, artist signatures, framing construction, and inspecting under ultraviolet light to check for restoration or retouching.

Pairing a dark, traditional oil painting with minimalist walls and sleek contemporary furniture creates a striking focal point that anchors the room with historical depth and visual contrast.

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and dramatic fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Clean surfaces gently with a soft, dry microfibre brush, avoiding chemical cleaners or moisture.
