FAQs

Chalk and pastel have been used for centuries to create quick studies and finished portraits, gaining renewed popularity in the mid-20th century for their immediacy and rich tonal qualities.

These works typically utilise coloured chalks, pastels, or charcoal applied to textured artist paper or tinted card stock.

Authentication relies on examining the paper quality, medium aging, artist signatures, framing remnants, and stylistic consistency with the period.

Framing the artwork with a neutral mount and placing it on a designated wall space allows the subtle tones and textures to become a sophisticated focal point.

Drawings on paper should be framed behind UV-protective glass and kept away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading and paper degradation.
