Equestrian sculptures have ancient roots, traditionally commemorating military leaders, monarchs, and heroes on horseback, evolving significantly during the Renaissance and the 19th-century European revival periods.

These sculptures are typically produced using the lost-wax casting method (cire perdue), utilising copper-alloy bronze mounted on stone or marble bases.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural patina, tool marks from chasing, foundry stamps or signatures, and consistent casting quality appropriate to the period of manufacture.

They make striking focal points on heavy timber desks, bookcases, or mantelpieces, pairing well with traditional or transitional decor styles that appreciate fine craftsmanship.

Maintain bronze by dusting gently with a soft brush and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to protect the patina from moisture and handling oils; avoid harsh chemical cleaners.
