This Edwardian sideboard dates from 1910 and belongs to the Sheraton Revival style, formed in warm brown mahogany with satinwood string and line inlay. The architecture comprises a raised splashback with decorative stringing and small finials, two central drawers stacked vertically, and flanking cupboards secured by brass drop handles. Below, four slender tapered square legs terminate in brass castors. The piece measures 85 cm high, 115 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, standing in great condition ready for immediate domestic service. In a modern interior, this compact server suits a dining room, hallway, or living space as a practical surface and storage unit. The drawers and side cabinets provide concealed space for tableware, linens, or everyday items, while the top surface accommodates lamps, decorative objects, or serving trays. The restrained classical geometry and warm timber tones coordinate easily with traditional and contemporary English country house schemes.

An Edwardian Sheraton Revival sideboard is a piece of dining storage furniture produced roughly between 1901 and 1910. It draws design inspiration from Thomas Sheratons late eighteenth-century neoclassicism, characterized by light proportions, straight lines, geometric marquetry, and tapered legs.

These servers were predominantly constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers. Decorative detailing often features contrasting timber inlays, such as satinwood or boxwood stringing, alongside brass handles, backplates, and castors.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit machine-assisted drawer dovetails combined with hand-finished joinery, smooth brass hardware, and fine timber line inlay. Check the underside and drawer interiors for consistent timber oxidisation and historic cabinetmaker marks.

Position the piece against a neutral or boldly painted wall to highlight the rich mahogany timber tones. Balance the traditional cabinetwork by layering contemporary ceramic vessels, minimalist table lamps, or framed artwork along the top surface.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping and veneer lifting.
