This Georgian bow front chest of drawers is formed from warm brown flame mahogany with satinwood stringing and inlay. The piece contains four graduated drawers, each fitted with oval brass backplate handles and keyhole escutcheons, finished with decorative banding along the edges. Supported on splayed bracket feet, the frame displays a curved profile across the front. Measuring 86 cm high, 104 cm wide and 57 cm deep, this practical storage unit provides surface space and drawer capacity. Suitable for placement in a bedroom, hallway or living area, the chest functions as a traditional storage cabinet for linens, clothing or household items. The warm wood tones and classical proportions coordinate easily with traditional interior schemes, while the compact depth allows placement against bedroom walls or in narrow hallways without obstructing walkways. The structured arrangement of graduated drawers organises belongings efficiently.

Originating in the late 18th century during the reign of King George III, a bow front chest features a convex curved front profile designed to soften the angular lines of a room while providing deep drawer storage.

These chests were typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcass frames, featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, crossbanded inlay, and cast brass handles.

Authentic Georgian pieces exhibit hand-sawn wood marks on the back, hand-cut irregular dovetails, original steel locks, and natural age-related shrinkage in the timber or drawer linings.

A Georgian bow front chest acts as a focal anchor when paired with contemporary abstract artwork, minimalist table lamps, or neutral wall palettes to contrast the rich mahogany tones.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent drying or splitting, dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the wood grain.
