FAQs

Iron and brass beds gained immense popularity in Europe during the 19th century, particularly in France, where industrial advancements allowed for intricate metal manipulation and hollow-tube construction.

These pieces typically combine cast iron for structural framework, malleable wrought iron for spindles, and solid brass or bronze for decorative finials, mounts, and rail accents.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-poured iron castings, threaded joints, original ceramic or brass castors, and minor surface imperfections indicative of historical hand-craftsmanship.

Pairing the industrial lightness of a painted metal frame with soft, neutral textiles, organic linen bedding, and minimalist modern furniture creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth, avoid harsh chemical abrasives on painted finishes, and use specialized non-abrasive brass cleaners sparingly only on unlacquered metallic components.
