FAQs

Iron beds became widely popular in France during the 19th century as manufacturing techniques advanced, offering a more hygienic and durable alternative to traditional wooden frames.

These frames typically utilise forged iron or cast iron components, joined with metal fixings and detailed with decorative cast junctions or metal castings.

Authentic period pieces often feature hand-cast details, traditional joint fixings, heavy metal construction, and signs of age such as minor surface oxidisation or historic paint layers.

Pair the industrial frame with minimalist white linens and natural textures to create a balanced aesthetic that contrasts the dark metalwork against contemporary surroundings.

Maintain the iron by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and avoiding moisture; treat any minor surface marks with appropriate metal waxes or rust inhibitors to preserve the finish.
