FAQs

Cold painted bronze refers to bronze or brass sculptures finished with non-fired paint, a technique popularised in late 19th- and early 20th-century Vienna, Austria.

Pieces were typically cast in brass or bronze using the lost-wax method, then hand-painted with layers of oil-based pigments before being air-dried.

Authentic pieces often feature characteristic natural wear to the paint layer revealing the warm bronze underneath, refined casting details, and occasionally Austrian foundry marks or Bergman stamps.

Display the sculpture as a focal point on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or desk to add a layer of historical texture and curiosity to contemporary spaces.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid all liquid cleaners, solvents, or polishing agents, which will strip the delicate original paintwork.
