Circa 1880. A late Victorian walnut partners desk. The top with black tooled and gilded leather insert and broad walnut crossbanding, with a stylish moulded fore edge. The frieze with three drawers to the front and back all in fine walnut with cast brass drop handles with a pierced and engraved back plate. At one side the drawers on top sit on a bank of three further graduating drawers with similar hardware and in the back of the desk there are three drawers with a pair of cupboards beneath, each has paneled doors, with a single shelf on the inside. All the gables have panels with the finest walnut, of great colour, beneath these panels there is further moulding and each of the pedestals stands on an enclosed walnut plinth.
