Titled to the front of the base of the bronze La Jeunesse and signed Antonin Carles. Siot Paris foundy mark and numbered 0925. Standing on a red marble base. Excellent cast and very fine detail. French c 1900. A similar figure is shown page 172 Bronzes of the 19th Century by Pierre Kjellberg

Jean-Antonin Carles (1851-1919) was a French sculptor. Born in Gimont, Carlès began his studies in Marseille and then successively progressed to the École des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse and that of Paris. He was a pupil of François Jouffroy and Ernest-Eugène Hiolle, he won the Grand Prix de l''Exposition Universelle in 1889.
