Size: 6ft 9in x 3ft 10in (205 x 118cm).
A good North West Persian ''Mazlahan'' village rug from the Greater Hamadan Region.
Circa 1900/20.
Mazlahan village is located to the east of the city of Hamadan, the village is well known for producing a unique design of rug that is not found anywhere else. The unique feature of the design is the bold ''lightning strike'' effect outlining the large central medallion.
This rug features a camel ground medallion containing a lattice of stars design, this is surrounded by a madder red field. The outer field has a dark indigo ground and is covered in columns of various flower heads. The main border is an ivory ground traditional design which is often found on Mazlahan rugs.
The rug is in good condition with slight wear and good pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. There is a small old patch repair to the lower right hand corner. The rug has a slightly ''waisted'' shape, getting very slightly narrower in the middle.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
