Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this Antique Persian Mazlaghan Rug to the 1910s.
A good North West Persian 'Mazlahan' village rug from the Greater Hamadan Region.
Circa 1900/20.
The unique feature of the design is the bold 'lightning strike' effect outlining the large central medallion.

This rug features a camel ground medallion containing a lattice of stars design, this is surrounded by a madder red field. The outer field has a dark indigo ground and is covered in columns of various flower heads. The main border is an ivory ground traditional design which is often found on Mazlahan rugs.

The rug is in good condition with slight wear and good pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. There is a small old patch repair to the lower right hand corner. The rug has a slightly 'waisted' shape, getting very slightly narrower in the middle.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
