A superb Victorian plum-pudding figured mahogany pedestal desk of excellent quality.
c1870.
The top with galleried back, has a solid mahogany writing surface, over one central long drawer, with four graduating drawers to each pedestal, with mahogany linings and of fine dove-tail construction, showing excellent quality. With turned bun-handles.
The mahogany to the drawer fronts is particularly lovely, having wonderful rich figuring to the wood and good rich deep colour.
Standing on a plinth base.
All drawers are strong and sturdy and open smoothly and easily
In excellent antique condition. Minor expected signs of age and use. Re-french polished approximately two years ago.
Very solid, sturdy and strong.
The desk doesn`t dismantle.
