Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian still life artwork frequently focused on intricate arrangements of botanical elements, garden flowers, and fresh fruit. These compositions relied on rich colour palettes, careful light management, and deep naturalism popularised during 19th-century Britain.

Artists used oil pigments applied to stretched linen or cotton canvas, sometimes mounted onto wood panels. Frames were constructed from carved timber coated in plaster or gesso and finished with leaf gilding.

Authentic period works display natural craquelure throughout the varnish layer, age-appropriate oxidisation on the canvas reverse, original wood key stretchers, and cast gesso details on the gilded framing.

Position the piece as a focal point above a timber sideboard, chest of drawers, or mantelpiece. Combining ornate gilt-framed artwork with clean modern lines or neutral walls creates an effective visual contrast.

Remove dust gently using a dry, soft-bristled brush across the frame and canvas. Avoid chemical cleaners, water, or direct sunlight, and maintain stable indoor humidity levels to prevent paint flaking.
