We are offering this substantial Victorian pedestal (separates into three pieces) in an unrestored state because it is unusual to find an example that is both perfectly useable but also lovely and original. This desk has so much character, it''s easy to picture it in a Victorian setting, so much so, that it would also make a perfect prop for a film. It retains a warm and appealing colour, the original tooled oil cloth writing surface (the mahogany that surrounds this is particularly pleasing), and a full complement of original turned wooden knobs, and locks (with original key). Measuring 5'' x 3'' (152 x 91cm), it''s not only aesthetically pleasing but provides the owner with plenty of working space and legroom - in fact, it has a little more height under the knee than usual, rare in a desk from this period.
