London City Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
A fabulous example crafted by top London furniture makers C Hindley and Sons (1820 -1892) who took over renowned cabinet makers Henry Miles and John Edwards in 1844 who also made fine furniture for important customers including the Empress of Russia and the British Ambassador in Paris.
Both companies are listed in the Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840 by the Furniture History Society. Over the years they produced some outstanding pieces of antique furniture.
