We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian furniture spans the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, elegant craftsmanship, and an evolution from heavy walnut to refined mahogany. Designs often incorporated stylistic elements from Palladianism, rococo, and neoclassical movements.

Authentic pieces were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, featuring mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved details, and traditional upholstery techniques using horsehair, webbing, and springs.

Authentication involves examining timber oxidisation, hand-cut joinery marks, tool impressions, and the wear patterns on the frame and feet. Original brass castors and hand-forged fixings also provide key clues to period accuracy.

Pairing a period piece with contemporary minimalist elements creates a balanced scheme. Neutral wall colours, modern lighting, and streamlined occasional furniture allow the historical craftsmanship to serve as a focal point.

Protect the fabric from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and use a soft brush attachment for regular dusting. Maintain the timber frame with microcrystalline wax and avoid placing the item near heat sources to prevent wood cracking.
