Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sivas rugs originate from central Turkey and are recognised for their fine weave, symmetrical knotting, and sophisticated floral designs influenced by classical Persian master carpets. Produced during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, they typically feature structured medallion compositions and refined palette combinations.

These carpets are hand-knotted using spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool foundation. Natural dyes derived from plants, roots, and minerals were traditionally employed to create rich shades of crimson, ivory, indigo, and sage green.

Authentic examples display a fine, dense knot count visible on the reverse, subtle abrash variations in colour due to natural hand-dyeing, and soft wool pile wear consistent with age. Design characteristics include ornate central medallions, delicate floral arabesques, and formal multi-tiered border structures.

A detailed Anatolian carpet serves as a focal foundation in minimalist or contemporary settings by introducing texture, colour depth, and geometric structure. Placing the rug beneath modern neutral furniture balances historic craftsmanship with understated modern styling.

Preservation requires regular low-suction vacuuming without a rotating brush, rotating the textile periodically to equalize foot traffic and sun exposure, and placing a high-quality rug pad underneath. Professional specialist dry cleaning should be carried out periodically to remove embedded dust without damaging wool fibres.
