Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ushak carpets originate from the town of Usak in Western Anatolia, a major centre of Turkish carpet weaving since the fifteenth century. Historically favoured in European royal courts and aristocratic estates, these carpets are characterised by their floral palmettes, star patterns, and distinctive muted colour combinations.

Traditional Ushak carpets are hand-knotted using locally sourced spun wool for both the pile and the foundation structure. The wool was historically dyed using natural vegetable dyes, which produce soft terracotta tones, indigo blues, sage greens, and ivory shades.

Authentic Ushak carpets feature the symmetrical Ghiordes knot woven onto a wool or cotton warp and weft. They typically display a looser knot density compared to Persian city rugs, creating a supple handle, accompanied by soft pastel colour palettes and oversized geometric or floral motifs.

An Ushak carpet works well to anchor a sitting room, dining space, or bedroom by introducing texture and subtle tone. Its muted palette pairs effectively with dark mahogany furniture, natural oak floorboards, or contemporary neutral upholstery.

Maintain a wool carpet by vacuuming regularly using suction only, avoiding rotating brush bars that pull hand-knotted fibres. Promptly blot spills with a clean dry cloth, place an underlay beneath to prevent slippage and wear, and consult a professional specialist cleaner for deep washing.
