Regency Goncalo Alves Davenport

Description

Regency goncalo alves davenport desk with sliding writing slope. High quality piece from a good maker. Ink and pen holder drawer to the side which pulls out and folds forward. Book slides pull out from both sides. Three drawers to one side and false drawers to the verso. The interior is fitted with two small drawers and two false fronts. Possibly the original leather insert to the top but certainly an old leather of the correct tan colour. On carved and turned feet with leather tyred castors. Bramah lock to the slope. In very good condition, the original gallery replaced, original ring turned knobs. Circa 1825
