Antique Turkish Marash Region Grain Bag Kilim Runner, Circa 1900/20.

Description

Size: 7ft 6in x 2ft 0in (228 x 62cm).

Antique Turkish kilim runner from the Marash region.

Circa 1900/20.

Well drawn with excellent traditional banded design with good colour. The kilim is made out of a grain storage bag that has been opened up, the lower half would have been the front with ad embroidered technique is known as cicim; the upper half would have ben the plain weave striped back. The kilim is of an ideal size and shape for use as a small runner.

Very good condition, slight wear. Suitable for normal domestic use.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.
