FAQs

A chuval is a large, flat-backed bag traditionally used by nomadic Turkmen tribes for household storage inside tents, typically featuring distinctive primary guls.

Authentic pieces are woven from hand-spun sheeps wool with natural vegetable and insect-derived dyes, predominantly utilizing shades of madder red, indigo, and ivory.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the handle of the wool, asymmetrical knotting, natural abrash in the dye lots, structural selvages, and traditional tribal motifs such as the gul pattern.

Such textiles function effectively as focal wall hangings or statement floor pieces, anchoring contemporary minimalist or transitional spaces with rich texture and historical depth.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without rotary brushes, professional specialist cleaning when necessary, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to strong sunlight.
