Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Laughing Buddha, known as Budai or Hotei, originates from 10th-century Chinese folklore as a Zen monk embodying contentment, generosity, and prosperity. Depicted with a prominent belly and a smiling facial expression, these figures became traditional symbols of good fortune across East Asia.

Traditional figures are commonly cast in copper alloys, including brass and bronze, using sand casting or lost-wax techniques. These metal sculptures feature chased surface details, engraved robes, and surface treatments that develop natural oxidisation over time.

Authentic vintage or traditional metal sculptures display indications of hand-finishing, such as tool marks along seams, core remnants within hollow bases, and uneven natural patination consistent with age and handling.

Group small metal sculptures together on a bookshelf, console table, or display tray alongside stone or wooden accents to form a balanced, curated vignette within modern or eclectic interiors.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft cloth or brush to clean recessed areas. Avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive cleansers, as these strip protective finishes and alter natural metallic patinas.
