Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sarouk rugs are traditional hand-knotted carpets crafted in the Arak weaving region of western Iran. They are characterised by dense wool piles, durable cotton foundations, and detailed floral, medallion, or pictorial Tree of Life compositions.

These carpets are constructed with hand-spun wool pile knotted onto a strong cotton warp and weft. Historically, the yarns were coloured using natural vegetable dyes derived from madder root, indigo, and plant extracts.

Authentic pieces feature asymmetrical Persian (Senneh) knots visible on the reverse, hand-spun wool with slight colour variations known as abrash, and woven signatures or dates in Arabic script near the top border.

A pictorial Sarouk rug acts as a visual anchor when placed on neutral hardwood or stone flooring. Pairing the rich reds and navies with muted upholstery allows the intricate design and foliage motifs to serve as the focal point of a room.

Vacuum regularly without a rotating motorised brush to prevent fibre pulling. Promptly blot spills with a damp cloth without rubbing, and schedule periodic professional cleaning by a specialist rug conservator.
