A 19th century pair of Bronze Neapolitan fishermen dancing in the sand with shells and fish to their feet , they are playing a tambourine and castanets. Both figures are mounted on original Sienna marble bases and are in excellent condition with a dark brown/ greenish patina. Signed on the base .
Francisque- Joseph Duret 1804-1865 paris was inspired by visiting Naples .
A very similar pair are illustrated in the dictionary of 19th bronze sculptors by Pierre Kjellberg.
